The Calgary Greyhound Walking Club was officially formed in May 2004 after a small group of friends and Greyhound owners met for a walk in a local park. It was such an enjoyable event for both the dogs and their people that we decided to get together on a regularly scheduled basis.
Our primary goals are to bring our wonderful Greyhounds together for socialization and exercise as well as to raise awareness of the breed where we can. The hounds are usually thoughtful enough to invite their people along for the fun…so why not join them?
The cities and towns of southern Alberta have an abundance of beautiful parks and since the summer of 2004, many walks have been organized to take advantage of our good fortune. We have celebrated various holidays on our walks such as Canada Day, Halloween, Christmas and Easter. Of course what would a holiday walk be without costumes? Check out our photos page. We have some very creative Greyhound owners and some very tolerant dogs!
If you have a Greyhound or Greyhound mixed breed and want to explore the fabulous parks and pathways in and around Calgary, while partaking of a little exercise and a lot of conversation, we would love to have you along!
Anyone from any adoption group and beyond is welcome in the Calgary Greyhound Walking Club. We encourage the participation of all, including non-Greyhound owners who would like to meet the hounds up close and learn about this gentle breed of dog. We are always grateful for an extra pair of hands to hold another leash! The joy we find in Greyhound ownership is our kinship and this is what we celebrate each time we walk with our dogs.
The walking club or website is not used for any fundraising purposes. We feel that by getting out on a regular basis with our Greyhounds, showing them off and talking to interested people we meet along the way, we are helping in the effort to find more good homes for these wonderful conpanions.
We invite you to explore the website. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions, thoughts or suggestions. We are always looking for new walking routes.
Sincerely,
Beth, Brenda, Nina and Christian

Then God sent the Greyhound to live among man and remember. And when the day comes, God will call the Greyhound to give testament, and God will pass judgement on man.
